A sleep-in this morning - didn't have to get on the bus until 10:15. We drove out to Wilanow palace, then along the Royal Route. Our first stop was Lazienki Park to view the Chopin monument, then past the Ronald Reagan, Charles de Gaulle and Copernicus statues. Many embassies along this route. Saw the church with statue of Pope John-Paul II, the Opera House, the Nike goddess, old City Hall and new City Hall, then stopped at the Jewish museum and viewed the Jewish Ghetto heroes monument. The last stop was the Old town - walked past the Palace square, the market square with mermaid statue and the Barbican. We had a taste of the hot cinnamon pastry then stopped for lunch at a restaurant- potato dumplings filled with meat and 'wodka' for me, beer, chicken soup and ice-cream for Wayne. Cathy and I went for a walk to the Jewish quarter but managed to get ourselves lost. Eventually made our way back on two trams - easy peasy. We needed a drink when we got back though! Dinner was a walk down the street to a burger bar.
The amount of police on the streets was incredible. Eventually Donald Trump went past about 10:45 pm. About 50 vehicles I reckon, including a bus, armoured vehicle and helicopter above. He was staying at the Marriott just up the road from our hotel. Talk about overkill!
