Bangkok Wed 27.11.19 - Thu 28.11.19
After an 11 hour flight from London we arrived at BKK Bangkok airport only to find that we (J) booked a taxi to the hotel from the other airport! We eventually arrive at the Anantara Riverside Hotel About lunchtime (thanks for the recommendation Sam). The rooms surround a beautiful tropical garden (with its own family of monitors - very large lizards) with a pool.....it's glorious. The afternoon was spent snoozing by the pool (mouth wide open - yes trying to catch flies) then the obligatory post flight foot massage at Ying Yangs just down the street - heavenly - finally starting to feel human again. After a trip upstream on the hotels river bus to Salthorn Pier we found Nalin Kitchen for dinner. We had passed lots of street food carts including at least one selling deep fried bugs! (thankfully we're vegan and didn't have to try them). Finished the evening at the hotel bar for a cocktail. Woke at 10.30am oops missed breakfast we obviously needed the sleep or did we have a few cocktails the night before? So first meal of the day was lunch. We ventured down the street to Sununthip Vegetarian. Only a 10 mins walk! Mad dogs and Englishwomen out in the midday sun! Took more than 10 mins we weren't quiet crawling but it was close. We needed to take hiking gear to climb over the bridges across the water. Ordered enough food to feed about 6 so that meant another afternoon snoozing (trying to catch flies again) by the pool. And then we wake up to the PA blasting the start of happy hour...... don't mind if we do. Tried a recommendation for our last dinner in Bangkok - Tealicious (thank you Sharon D). It was the best meal we had in Bangkok. Flight tomorrow to Hanoi so alarm set as Jude doesn't want to miss breakfast again!
