Thursday 25/05/06 Paraguay We took the overnight bus from Foz de Iguazu. We went directly to the Brazilian border control and then to Paraguayan control. We settled down for our journey and arrived early 5am. We went straight to bed and slept until 8am. We wandered around the capital, it had the most amazing crumbling buildings, and in the afternoon we had a guided tour around the city. Paraguay is incredibly poor, but we really liked the feel of it and were sorry in a way that we had such a short time here. Friday 260506 Asuncion to Ponta Pora We wandered around the town in the morning as we had a noon bus to catch to the Paraguay border town. This was our first taste of local buses, people where standing in the aisle, sometimes standing for 5 hours, and sometimes almost on top of us. As we traveled north we saw the arid land change to rich farming land. A guy was traveling in a horse and cart while talking on a mobile phone! We arrived and took our transfer to the Brazilian border control and the driver drove around and around the town looking for the hotel, when we eventually arrived we ordered dinner in the hotel only burgers but it took 1.5 hrs to come.
