Kompong Cham
Sun 22.12.19
The 5 hour bus journey to Kompong Cham took us through more very rural villages with most houses along the road selling something or fixing things. Also passed more pepper plantations, water buffalo, paddy fields and weirdly an Asian driving school.....bit of a misnomer really as most drivers do not bother to take a driving test or just 'buy' one. Stopped for a toilet break to find a lady selling fried bugs and bats!! Thankfully we're vegan! On arrival we headed to Smile the restaurant next to the hotel, it's another community based place - we both had bean burgers which were pretty good. You can see the Kizuna Bridge from our hotel, it's just under a mile long and is still Cambodia's 2nd longest bridge. Kampong Cham is yet another small riverside town along the Mekong River. There isn't a huge amount to see here and what there is to see involves either a tuk tuk ride or hiring bikes. To be honest it's 35C and humid and after a 5 hour bus ride and a longer one tomorrow we can't face either cycling or a tuk tuk ride. So we decided to have a wander around town which is pretty quiet as it's Sunday and then spent the afternoon chilling
