FARFRUMWURKEN
We arrived here on Saturday in Adelaide after two days at sea. We're just in time to catch the BIG Santa Clause Parade in downtown Adelaide today, so we're going to make the 45-minute train trip into the CBD (Central Business District) to see what's on.
We arrived at Outer Harbour which is about 45-minutes from Adelaide. We each had to purchase a MetroCard for $10AU and board the train for the trip into town. Everything went smoothly until we got into the CBD. The parade screwed up the entire bus scheduling system and most of the people that we spoke with had simply no clue what was happening. After walking, and walking and walking to find the 98A Tourist bus, we finally managed to track down the bus and got on for what I'd consider a ****** 90-minute tour around the city.
It was jammed with locals (because it was free I guess) as it sped through the town at break neck speed. It was really a bit of a joke, but it got the girls off their feet. I carefully plotted out course for the next go round to ensure that we "alighted" off the bus at the correct station which minimized our walking distance back to the train.
What luck, we got off the bus just in front of the Adelaide Casino - great luck especially for Renetta and I, and it also gave us a spot to consider lunch. We chowed down on some cafe nosh and then headed back to the train for the 45-minute trip home. We're here until about 11:00 p.m. tonight before we head out to Kangaroo Island/Penneshaw but the weather continues to be just a little chilly at about 57 degrees F. Is this really typical of an Australian spring ?
My next update could be from Tasmania or maybe Melbourne (pronounced Mel-Bun), we'll see what the Wi-fi conditions are like.
