FARFRUMWURKEN
Last night was our first night in the apartment and it didn't go well. I didn't get a bit of sleep last night - I thought I had passed a lung about 2:00 p.m. My initial intention was to find a doctor and get some meds, but knowing that we had pre-reserved access to the Eiffel Tower for 9:30 a.m. I thought it would be better for me to go today than have to blow the 30E and go back with Deb another day.
Wouldn't you know it - my pre-reserved printed passes had gone missing - likely some of the purging that went on in the boat during the past 24 days. Anyway, I managed to talk the ticket guy into reprinting our two tickets so no issue in the end.
Up the tower we went all the way to the top floor. It's quite a height. Unfortunately this was a cloudy day so the pictures don't do the photographs justice. From there it was over to the Military College and then over to Napoleon's Tomb. We didn't tour the museum because Tom & I purchased the Museum Pass which kicks in Wednesday when we head to Versailles. Hopefully with Versailles in the 20E range we can so this should offset some of the 42E expense.
We then headed over to the Arc de Triomphe and walked the Champs. Had lunch at one of the spots on the Champs - crazy pricing - 6.8E for a bottle of Evian tap water that filled four very small glasses. The food was average but the pricing way over the top when you compare this against Canada.
I knew that I needed to see a doctor in order to engage the antibiotics tonight before another case of "no sleep" settled in again. We stopped at several Pharmacies to get some local doctors names - but in general they wouldn't see me without booking an appointment. Finally I got a name of a Medical Clinic that was about a 20 minute walk from the apartment so Deb and I headed over to see if we could get in.
At a cost of 23Euro for each of us - the doctor did a fairly extensive review of our symptoms, took blood, blood pressure and airway test and concluded that we both have a bad case of bronchitis. He prescribed 5 different meds for me and 4 different meds for Deb at a cost of 136.66 Euros - let's just hope that our medical coverage picks up some of this cost.
We're scheduled to head to Versailles tomorrow - so we'll see how we both feel.
Stay tuned.
