SAFELY IN BOGOTÁ
A long day of travel complete. Woke up at 4am this morning in South Dakota. Going to sleep tonight in South America. The longest wait all day (other than the scheduled layovers in Minneapolis and Atlanta) was the 20-minute wait for security to open at the Rapid City airport. That, and close to an hour walking the labyrinth of immigration, although I had the nicest immigration officer I've ever met. "¿Hablas español?" she said. "Un poco." I said. "¿Turismo?" she said. "Si." I said. "That's all." She said…. Wonderfully easy.
Pastor Jairo (pastor of San Pablo Lutheran Church, our sibling congregation) greeted me at the airport. We took a 20-minute taxi ride and we were home. Pictured here is the whole family who - as you can see - welcomed me with open arms. More about the family later.
This long day of travel has been dream-like. Except now that I'm awake on the other side (where very few people speak English), I'm ready to actually sleep.
