Almost as if the carpenters had been to Cherbourg! Happy international workers day to those of you who remember .... So. Not only is it raining like crazy, the downtown area is shut down tight for the holiday. We heard that the maritime museum was the only thing open, and it was pretty much true! The hall upon entering was open and colorful but the line for tickets was long and once purchased we would have had to go outside in the rain to traverse between buildings. Unwilling to add to our rainy day walking, we took the next shuttle bus to downtown. Off the bus we passed through the tourist bureau office, and t the best corner came upon a May Day (International Workers Day) march/demonstration. We did go to the umbrella factory. I wanted to buy an umbrella in Cherbourg (anybody?) and so I was excited - until we saw that the cheapest small umbrella was 125€!! So I took a picture. On the way back to the shuttle bus we passed the Casino. It also was closed... Back on the ship, as we reached the top of the ramp, we were greeted with a cup of hot chocolate. Lunch - salad once again. Back in the cabin I finally finished the book Gone Girl. And because yesterday's big screen movie was Hidden Figures it was on the small screen today so we were able to see it at long last. Dinner tonight - we elected to try the special meal at the pinnacle grill- harkening back to a menu served in Le Cirque, a famous restaurant in New York. And as we left the harbor, the sun started to break through!

Lotte loved the circa plate. I heard from others in Europe, the beautiful spring time: washed down the drain by rain. I wish you both more sunlight in the coming days
Lotte I forgot, Hidden Figures was my favorite movie of 2016! A big toast to all the wonderful women in the world.
