This morning we had a big breakfast in the marquee at the camp site. The. Bec walked us down to the train station at 8.45am. We had decided to go into Nice. We passed Marine Land, the water world and a carnival on the way. There seemed to be a lot to see and do just on the way to the train. I wish we had an extra day here to have a better look around, but it's off to Florence tomorrow. The trains were so packed with people! I can't wait to be able to drive again. I find the public trains so frustrating sometimes. When we arrived we walked down the main street of shops until we found the Internet cafe. Paul emailed MasterCard about activating his second cash passport. Then I quickly replied to Dad's email. We continued walking down the main street until we reached the beaches. We ended up splashing out and paying to go into the private beach and lie on the loungers. I never thought I would ever pay to go to a beach, but when in Rome... The beaches are really pebbly and the ocean was quite rough. It drops away really quickly and then is reasonably deep. There are mats that run from the entrance and through the sun loungers like foot paths. I suppose they're there so you don't have to walk on the hot stones. The loungers are all lined up in rows along the beach and you are assigned a lounger to use. You can pay extra to hire a towel and there is a cafe and bar, but you're not allowed to bring food and drink onto the beach. However; the view looks like something from a post card. It was extremely hot and was too rough to swim. They stopped everyone from swimming at one point because of the conditions. Once it was too hot to bare anymore we went to find the ice cream/ gelato store that Bec had recommended. It has one hundred different flavors. It was down a little alley way in the old town. It was so hard to decide which flavors to pick so I ended up choosing three: chewing gum, watermelon and melon (more a rock melon kind of taste). All three were put into a waffle cone. They were so yummy! I still can't pick which was my favourite. I also bought a juice slushy. So good!! It reminded me of the raro slushys we used to make at home when I was a kid. Then we found a cute Italian restaurant and ordered some pizza and pasta for lunch. The language barrier can prove to be challenging when trying to order a meal sometimes. A lot of restaurants in France don't seem to serve chicken so I ended up with a pesto flavoured pasta. It didn't have anything else with it. Just pesto over pasta so was pretty bland. Five of the guys from Perth have been having challenges throughout the trip. There first one was ten pin bowling in London. Today's challenge was roller blading. The loser receives a punishment e.g. Ross had to get his legs waxed for losing the ten pin bowling. The loser of this challenge has to get a full body tan done. Todd never turned up so lost by default. Was so funny watching them race. A couple of them had no idea how to roller blade and kept falling over. We got the 4pm train back to Biot, dropped our things off at the cabin and went straight to the water park. The water slides were so much fun. Jess and Fi came too. We all grabbed the donut rings and had a race down the slide. The heat had been so draining all day so it was the perfect way to end the day.
