i think they were secretly expecting us...after we told them we were never coming back. we had left them christmas presents last time...
Rody, our dutch roomie, received a large can of hairspray (may be a little joke about his long hair), a shirt that we wrote "Bjorn Borg" on because he may have owned quite a few of these shirts, some candles because he actually would really use those, and some cookies with holes in the middle, because he tried to decorate his tree with those as ornaments
Donny, our canadian roomie, recieved two v-neck shirts (because he may reeeeeally enjoy wearing V-neck shirts and even at the many sarcastic comments of all his teammates) and also a box of chocolate letters. rachel and i have this knack of saying very inappropriate things that we really don't mean, and i think it spawns from us being a little naive. but "Sinter Klaus" brings everyone chocolate shaped in the letter of everyone's first name, so he obviously got a "D", and our innocent minds said something i guess that could have been constrewed as dirty to some people. so to get a good laugh, we repaid him in chocolate J's, R's, and L's, which i don't think can be manipulated in any way to be dirty.
Our dearest roomie and old college friend Londy got a couple package of socks - because he was disgusted in the socks rach and i were backpacking in. he actually made me take mine off and gave me a pair of his own, and then took my sock and threw them into the street instead of letting me wear them. but the next day i had come back from Brugge wearing the same socks, and they were in worse shape than the socks he had thrown away. they were black, brown, even somehow blue and looked like i hadn't taken them off in days. and some hair ties, because he kept borrowing ours.
it was sad to say goodbye, but they think we'll be back. i'd like to think we reallllllly have to get going, but tilburg will always feel like home
