Travelled on south stopping overnight at the village of Markt Wald , then south again to Krun where we planned four nights. We stopped in Oberamergau en route. A pretty town full of wonderful painted buildings and shops full of wood carvings. The famous Passion Play is performed here every ten years by local people at various locations throughout the village. I had hoped to visit the theatre where you can see the costumes but alas, it was closed on Mondays. Part of our route home overlaps this way so will maybe manage to visit there on the way back.
We decided to head on through Garmish Partenkirchen, a previous site of the controversial1936Winter Olympics when under the Nazi regime, and try to beat the rain clouds to Krun. The clouds hung low and the mountain tops were not visible much to our disappointment.
