BACK IN THE WALLADY BEET
Yes back in Wellington for a few days, need a rest from the rigours of the Kiwi Bus, far too many late nights and early mornings.
The last night in Queenstown was funnily enough spent in Cowboys, what a bar. The only slight down point about the last day in Queenstown was that the River Surfing trip which I had worked oh so hard to win didnt happen. The annoying thing was that because it was a freebee I was only allowed to go if there was space on the trip. Went to the office at 1pm for the 2pm trip and they said that there was still 1 space and that it would be 95% likely I would go, come back at 1.45. Get back there at 1.45 with the Dookers on and the towel in my hand, someone had phoned 10 mins before. Damn it. Not really sure how much of that I believed but hey ho, what could I do. Left the voucher with someone else from my bus who was staying in Queenstown so I'm sure that it will get used in the end.
Quiet night in Christchurch in the jailhouse accomodation, first time I've ever spent a night in the jail, may surprise some of you that one. Was a bit weird but pretty cool at the same time, better to stay in jail by choice as well I'd say. Was walking past a bar and saw that the Pacquiao/Marquez fight was away to start, perfect timing. So sat and watched that, Marquez was robbed like.
Travelled up to Kaikoura the next day and had another pleasant evening just chilling out, Ollie and I cooked Spag Bol which was the first time that I'd cooked in ages. Just been far too lazy and eating out isn't really that expensive either.
Had the ferry journey for the 3rd time (twice North, once South) the following day and decided to go out on to the deck as we approached Wellington. Disaster for Scotland. Was so windy that my sunglasses got blown out of my shirt pocket, landed and one of the lenses fell out, was pretty sure that it had gone overboard, recovered the other bits anyway. Just before we docked an announcement came for anyone who had lost a sunglasses lens. That'll be me then, managed to fix them back together as well. Happy times.
Have Mounted Victoria since getting to Wellington. Dont get excited. I've climbed up Mt Victoria, gives you some cracking views of the city although it was pretty hard work. Cooked again last night, Chicken Madras, yum. Was going to go and watch the Wellington Phoenix but they have decided to play this weekends home game in Auckland. Typical.
Finally, congratulations to Neil and Katy on their engagement, happy times indeed.
Take care all
