Proclaimers in the Poo Pub
Phew, what a birthday night, easily the best 27th birthday that I've ever had. More later.
Did that sunbathing in Kaiteriteri, was a really lovely morning, it was a pretty long drive down to Westport where there is absolutely nothing to do, quiet night, Lord of the Rings then Zoolander on Video, yes as in VHS, think that NZ is still a few years away from the Doovde.
Poo Pub was tremendous, great place to spend a birthday. It's a themed fancy dress party and our theme was anything beginning with the letter P. So we had Pacman, a pensioner, a pimp, Peter Pan, a Pen Knife, a Parrot, Poison Ivy and me, as a Proclaimer. Which basically involved dressing in Denim and shouting Ba Da Da Da every now and then. The denim jacket was an inspired purchase, $3 at the Salvation Army shop, pity it smelled like homelessness. Actually felt quite guilty when we were in there, bus load of us picking up cheap stuff for a fancy dress party that we're gonna throw away and there were folk actually clothes shopping in there. Had to laugh at the sign that said "higher priced clothing" there were some things on there that were as expensive as $15. That's about 7 quid. Ended up with the entire bus singing happy birthday at me while I downed a shot, it was pretty nice and very embarrasing. Great night though.
Bus down to Franz Josef today and off on a Glacier Hike tomorrow, did this the last time I was here and really loved it. Looking forward to getting up on the ice in the morning, then it's off down towards Queenstown where I will hopefully throw myself off a bridge. Don't worry, I haven't gone all manic depressive on you, I will have some elastic tied round my ankles. Only decision is which jump to do, quite fancy the K Bridge, which was the world's first commercial bungee, and you can get dunked in the water on that one too which sounds pretty sweet.
Anyway, will let you know how the Hike and the bungee go, if I'm still around to tell the tale.
Take care everyone.
