Hey everyone,
had a nice relaxing time in Goa- not much to say about that really, just went to the beach everyday, and relaxed in a hammock!! found an italian restaurant which did good pizzas, but i (elisa) couldnt even eat it all! my stomach has shrunk loads and i could only eat about 3 slices before feeling full! Tragic :( there was also a very cute cat there that kept jumping on our seats to get sum food off us. one time tom was bending down from his chair n the cat jumped up on it behind him without him noticing, and all i cud see was this little cute face over the table looking for food.
did i mention there was a man with a 'pouch' for swimming trunks? an old man...
went and got the plane from goa to mumbai, then mumbai to bangkok. journey went fine, apart from a obese man sat next to me and spreading over to my side of the seat! how annoying! and he was snoring. he looked pretty old but it turned out he had a 3 yr old kid in thailand, which i found abit strange.....
bangkok is soooo much calmer than india- omg what a shock! everyone was saying how it is a busy place, you dont want to stay there for too long, etc...well its like HEAVEN compared to india! nothing crazy at all! the people are friendly and happy, they seem to laugh at anything lol, shame we have no idea wot they are saying to us tho.
went out for the day yesterday and saw the standing buddha- which is in the pics, all gold n massive. went round sum temples too which were impressive with all the gold stuff and designs! really nice. we saw Wat Pho- which has a reclining buddah- also in the pictures. its of a even bigger buddha laying down, sooooo looong and big! that was really cool to see. the surroundings were really pretty aswell. we had a tuk tuk driver that took us around these places, but he also made us go into suit shops and jewelery shops, where we learnt about gems- i asked the man 'why are they only semi precious, why not fully precious?' (coz i was thinging that they are clearly only semi/half as good.) the Tuk Tuk was really fun to be in, it didnt feel like we were about to crash and die which is good. There were also flashing colourd lights inside for extra deco lol.
that night we went down Khao San road to look at all the shops/stalls, lots and lots! its really bad, i have the urge to buy lots of pretty clothes but have no room in the bag for them! ARGHHH!! even that road seems peaceful- its nothing compared to delhi a tell thee!
in the middle of the night in bed i woke up and tom told me someone threw a potato into our room, and i asked where and he said ' over there' and pointed to the table. it was too dark for me to see anything. I was soo confused as to why and how they did this!?!?! went to sleep and the next morning i had a look and there was nothing there, and no where that anyone cud throw anything into our room! turns out tom was dreaming and has no recolection of saying this to me lol. although he told me what he dreamt about lastnite and it was about him having an argument with some hotel people....
not done alot today coz yet agen elisa is illllllll!!! tuk sum 'travel sickness' tabs last nite and they made me have a rough night and go all dizzy as it i was drunk! felt rough today and went to the docs- he was v nice and funny, and was laughing at the indian doctor i had that diagnosed me with a throat infection when i wanted to sort out why i was sick. thai doctor seems to think i av stomach infection and given me sum tabs- so fingers crossed i will finally get better soon. it was pretty bad today for a moment wen i was outside and felt like i was going to vomit and i had to run around and find a loo! i wernt sick in end.
tomorrow all being well we will go see more sights like the palace- which the emerald buddhas and more temples.
Hey it's Tom here now. Just wanted to say a few things about Thailand. I really like it, it's a lot cleaner than India and feels a lot more welcoming. India can be a bit intense at times especially when the people stare at you. We are staying in backpacker central but it's a bit of a muddle, touristy stuff fused with Thai stuff. Every few metres you find a vendor selling Pad Thai or some kind of Thai delicacy (which I'm yet to try) and it all smells gorgeous. Whilst we were walking around the streets near our hotel we came across an old VW camper that had been turned into a bar, which was very groovy! It had pink lights and music blaring out with some bar stools next to it and a young Thai lady poking out the top serving up cocktails.
The temples are also really beautiful, I find them more peaceful than Hindu temples for some reason. All the Buddhist temples here are decorated quite extensively but the main focus is on a statue of Buddha, people sit in front of it on the floor, some look at it, whilst others pray in front of it with lit incense sticks in their hands.
Another thing I like about Bangkok is the river and taking the ferry down it, which is the way we got from the hotel to the some of the sights. I don't know why but I seem to have a soft spot for cities with rivers, hopeully we'll get to see the canals by boat some time as well.
Bye for now!
P.S. Elisa misses food and has lost weight.
