Well, what a pain in the butt!! Early start for Mum, Wess and I to get to Treasure Island by 9 for the presentation. We leave Joan and the girls sleeping. The plan is they will wake at their leisure, have brekky and head to the pool where we will meet them about half eleven or so ready for lunch! Hmmmm, we head to the new resort on a bus, five minute ride, all good, receive free buffet breakfast, cool then settle in to listen to the spiel. The guy talking simply does not take a breath for the full two hours. We then are taken on a tour and the resort and rooms (like all time share) are really nice. Next we have to sit in an individual booth while our options are discussed with us. We dutifully listen and when we ask the price our 'guide' heads off to get the finance guy.....oops. We listen again and then fairly quickly voice our 'thanks, but no thanks'. Well, literally 2 minutes later we are unceremoniously being shown the door. Damn, shoulda butted in with our 'no thanks' earlier....lol. Our guide was really funny, spitting image and sound of TV's, The Nanny!! Our service after saying no seriously diminished and we sat for over 30 minutes waiting for the shuttle to return. Overall the 2 hours stretched into nearly 5 and we were seriously hoping tonight's show was worth the wait. As the girls and Joan have by now finished swimming, showered and had their lunch they catch the bus to meet us while we wait for the show tickets at Excalibur. Excalibur is set out like a castle, very medieval and quite cool.
When they arrive, we have a couple of hours until show time so we head out to walk the strip. We end up at Luxor which is an Egyptian theme casino and the first one we saw when we arrived thanks to the beam of light which shoots up in the air from the tip of their huge pyramid. They even have the sphinx!!
Show time!! I'm feeling quite nervous about tonight's show simply due to the fact that I'm the only one who really knows anything about it and the free tickets turned out to be quite painful so I am left hoping that it turns out to be amazing....and it is. We head into the 'arena' where we are seated in rows around a pit separated into 8 countries. Our seating is in the Austria section. Merlin enters the pit and proceeds to train us in the correct way to cheer for our knight and how to correctly drink our drinks in true medieval fashion. We are informed that in ancient times cutlery hadn't been invented and we would be eating our meal with our hands, Talari was especially pleased about this!! Our knights then entered the arena on horseback, both horses and riders decked out in splendid medieval finery and we had to cheer for our knight louder than the other sections. As we ate our meal, the tournament began and our knight was locked in various battles such as flag races, jousting and head chopping while we all cheered madly until finally our knight lost and only 1 remained. It was so much fun, everyone was so loud and patriotic toward their knight, chanting and clapping as directed by our helpful maidens. Dinner was tomato soup, roast chicken (a whole roast chicken each!!!) with potato and broccoli and apple pie.
There were hand to hand battles, invasions by dragon warriors, princess dressage, fireworks and dancing girls. All in all a really fun, entertaining night, with plenty of energy and food.
Mum, Joan and Sienna then caught the bus home, after visiting all three floors of the M & M shop while Wess, Talari and I decided to walk. By the time we made it back, Sienna was asleep in Mum's room so we left her there and again fell into bed exhausted. The strip is really quite a bit longer than the lights show!! I think the girls will remember that show for a while.
