We landed in Toronto in the evening and hopped on a shuttle bus to our hotel, we definately felt the change in the weather! We got to our hotel, which was really nice, and grabbed a sandwich from over the road before going to bed, both really tired - travelling does really take it out of you!
We were staying in the Financial District and were really close to the Eaton Centre, which is a like a shopping centre. It was about a ten minute walk away but that can feel alot longer when it's so cold! The weather channels were telling us it was 10 celcius which we obviously experience in the UK so should be used to, but after nearly seven months of being in warm climates, it felt like it was below freezing! It was good to walk around though and we found the bus station we needed to go to for when we departed for New York. We found the tourist information centre and booked a trip to Niagara Falls, part of the trip on the boat was not open as it was too cold but the rest was so we decided to still do it.
The day we went to Niagara Falls was by far the coldest, which is typical of our luck! We were taken to a winery along the way, well we say winery, we were actually just taken into what looked like a wine shop and given some wine samples to try. We weren't actually shown around the winery so that was a bit of a disappointment. The bus itself was really cold without the heat on so Candy made sure to keep asking the driver to put it on, you see to him, this was Spring time warm weather! We also had a stop off at a whirlpool just before we got to the falls to take some pictures, it was so cold though we quickly took some then jumped back onto the bus. We had another stop at a small town just outside of Niagara, where we went into a bakery and grabbed a hot chocolate to warm up! Once we got to Niagara we were told we were going to be taken up the Skylon Tower, which has a viewing platform at the top. We were told when we booked the trip that this was optional, either that or Journey Behind the Falls, where you walk behind the wall of water (behind glass of course!) but the driver said that wasn't very good and if we wanted to do it, we had to pay for that on top. So we weren't very happy as we had wanted to do the Journey Behind the Falls but went up the Tower anyway as it was included and would be good to see the waterfalls so high up. The views were really good as you could see Horseshoe Falls and America Falls, but again, it was so cold and the observation deck is open you could only stay out there for a few minutes. Once we'd come back down we grabbed some lunch and stayed inside for a while to warm up. After that we headed back to Toronto, both falling asleep on the way back, very much like children do but it had been a long day!
We both really liked Toronto, the vibe of the city is different to places in America and the area we stayed in was really cool and close to things. We weren't there very long but if you like somewhere, you tend to know straight away. At least that's what we've found in our experience trotting the globe! Next we're off to final destination - New York. Very excited! We're getting another bus, which isn't great but as we said before, we're hardcore now. As always, we'll keep you posted everyone...
