On Sunday we travelled to Ubud . On our way our taxi driver was very informative and taught us lot of interesting facts about the Balinese people and the island . En route to Ubud we stopped at a coffee plantation and tried lots of types of tea and coffee. Our favourite type was the coconut coffee , and we bought a packet each. Here we also tried the renowned luwak Coffee, which is very expensive in the Uk as the animal eats the beans , excretes them , then they are cleaned/ sterilised and roasted ! A lengthly process!
When we arrived in Ubud we were dropped off in our bungalow. Our hotel is located just off the main road of Ubud , off the beaten track and just below some beautiful rice fields.
We spent most of our afternoon exploring the main parts of Ubud and enjoyed peering through the shops of monkey forest road. At the end of the monkey forest road you can find the renowned long-tailed macaques monkeys which inhabit the monkey forest and temple . We spent a while here admiring the monkeys and their natural habitat.
We've decided to make the most of our time in Ubud and on Monday we have booked an elephant ride , Tuesday a sunrise trek, Wednesday a cookery course !
