welcome to Adelaide! Once i arrived i took a walk through the streets to the bank. the first thing i noticed were all the people of different backgrounds. There's many asian people, but also white, indian, black, a huge mixture of different cultures! it is the most incredible thing. The second thing i noticed was the food choices. I live on street called Hindley street its like a busy street with many cafe's, restaurants, bars, convience stores, and fast food. the variety of food here is awesome, food from all over the world right under my feet.
after arriving, i had a rush of homesickness. it was really hard the first two days. I was scared being here in a place knowing no one or anything really. I was just sad. The jetlag was horrible too, that was a big factor into it. I had no appetite to eat and having to set everything up in the apartment was stressful. I didn't really have anything no food, and no toilet paper. when your me, thats a huge issue. I just wanted to cry because I missed home so much and I was scared and nervous.
Since the first day and a half things have picked up. I'm still getting over a lack of appetite and figuring out my sleep schedule. when the difference is 16.5 hours ahead its quite an adjustment. After skyping my mom,I felt much better and I went to the university (they call it Uni here... Aussie's shorten all their words). I was a busy bee yesterday walking around town, picking up groceries and items, went to a parade, and I even made new friends in the building.
It's getting better everyday and I'm really looking forward to next week when I go to the University for orientation. It is a busy next two weeks ahead and I'm really excited for what happens next!
