G'day! I'm at Hervey Bay the main place to go over to Fraser Island which is the biggest sand island in the world! We have just done a self drive 3 day 2 night trip around the island in a 4 wheel drive which was eventful to say the least!! There were 11 of us in total in the group and its up to you where you go and where you camp. There are some beautiful places on the island, Lake McKenzie was my fav its a freshwater lake which is so lovely after 3 days of no showers and blasting heat. We didn't fill up the water cannister on the first day so we had a bit of a nightmare the day after but we survived! Its very basic camping with no showers, no water taps just sand! Another thing we had to be careful about is the Dingo's, wild dogs that look cute but are the best pack hunters in the world.... needless to say I had an encounter with one - practically tripped over the little git that was sniffing around the tents! Very scary! Tee hee trust me to do something like that! We visited the Champagne pools, they get their name from the fizzing water coming over from the rocks into the pools but they are safe to swim in as the sea is full of sharks just waiting for you to go swimming! I was disappointed that it tasted of salt water and not Moet though! Anyways was glad to get back to mainline and a bed! next stop sunshine coast, Noosa! Em xx
