Ahoy there me hearties! I am now in a beautiful little place called Airlie Beach this is where everyone comes to go off and explore the AMAZING Whitsunday Islands... the rain stopped but it came down hard enough to create big floods in the road so instead of a short trip down here from Cairns it took us about 13 hours on the coach.... NOT GOOD! Anyway we booked ourselves on a 3 day, 2 night sailing trip on a little boat called Figero and sailed the seven seas (well about the islands anyway). It was only small, 10 passengers and 2 crew so we all helped put up the sails and steer the boat! I now know the meanings of port, starboard, bow and stern! Pirate Em SAVVY! We visted the amazing Whitehaven beach which looks 10 times more prettier than the one on the picture for this postcard, hopefully I can get some piccies on the website soon to show you! The highlight of this trip was seeing Phoropherus plankton at nighttime, those of you who don't know what this is and have watched the film, The Beach, its on there when Leo and that chick get in the water for 'a swim' at night - basically the plankton get all excited when you disturb the water and give off light so everytime a fish swims past you see a amazing light show! Our skipper took the dingy out for a spin so we could watch from the boat and it lit up the water so much it didn't look real! SUPER DUPER STUFF! Big up to the plankton massive! We went snorkelling yesterday which was pretty amazing too, loads of fish just swimming past your face but no sharks, thank god. We all had to wear very sexy stinger suits though in case the jelly fish got us! These were all in one lycra jump suit type things.. NICE! Anyway next stop is a little outback place called Dingo wear we can line dance, horse ride and round up the cattle yeee haaa! Will post another card asap! Em xx
