Another early morning set off - the full group are here now after a few delayed flights.
The journey again in a open back truck through the jungle onwards to the elephant sanctuary felt like a long time. An hour apparently but once everyone realised we’re actually doing another journey for 5 hours to the second elephant location this felt like a breeze.
Throughout the journey we spot elephants in fields almost like cows on our home fields.
The experience with the elephants was amazing well apart from the costume choices - you can’t wear a bikini without a T-shirt and shorts are a must even with a swimming costume for respect to the mahouts. They’re on a full routine with the volunteers, waiting for food - Bon Bon makes them open their mouths wide for you to pass them a banana - one nearly took my hand off it was that quick. To say all gone you do jazz hands - I’m sure that’s just a Thai trick for foreigners.
We then walk down to their pool where they play for a bit, before going up to the mud bath. This is where they have the most fun.
