Arriving in vang vieng after a 4 hour bus journey and instantly loving the chilled atmosphere that came with this quiet town that was full of back packers and surrounded by mountains! With the town only made up of literally a few streets next to the river and restaurants that me and dom came to love not because of the food as such but because they played endless episodes of friends and you could just lay there eat and watch, was the best thing!
The first couple days here we had a lot of rain and was worried it was going to last our whole time here, luckily it didn't! We went for a little explore one day across the river on a bamboo type bridge to the other side which was a real Laos kinda village with children playing in the road, so happy with simple things!
The next day we organised to do a kayaking trip which consisted of visiting a cave first and tubing through the cave and then kayaking down the river which was the best bit it was so pretty! Me and dom however insisted to be different from everyone else and always went slightly different route which never ended up in our favour as we were constantly going aground on the rocks, with dom having to get out each time and give us a push off, to us we find it hilarious! Arriving by river back into the town and finishing up the tour and heading back to our hotel to relax and shortly head out for the evening!
And the following day was my birthday!!!which was very strange being away from home for the first time on my birthday but We had such a nice morning opening birthday cards from home and from dom dom! Which were all cards that made me laugh! And then we headed out early to the blue lagoon ( best to go early otherwise gets very busy) after a getting the price down on a tuk tuk and a very bumpy ride there along the worst road we arrived at the blue lagoon and we loved it!! It was the best morning to have on my birthday!! Swimming in the lagoon was the most refreshing thing ever even though very cold at first! And then jumping off a tree branch, you climb up a bamboo ladder to get to it, not thinking it was that high then getting up there and realising it was actually quite high, so it took me a while to make the jump but I did it and it was a little scary!! Dom find the jump a lot higher than expected too and for once admitted he was scared! After swimming in the lagoon on a tight time because we got the price of our tuk tuk down he said we only have a couple hours we went to visit the cave right by the lagoon after a very steep climb up we made it to the cave where there was no one else in it so going the full way in to us seemed a bit scary and we stuck to just going into the first bit! Back down and of course another swim in the lagoon and sadly we it was our time to leave :(( after a bumpy tuk tuk ride home we made it back and went for lunch and watching friends! Followed by getting massive chocolate cupcakes and scoffing our faces!! The rest of the day we chilled around and went out for dinner but overall had a very good day! However then sadly followed by the evening and the next two days being bed bound due to being ill and dom Dom having to look after me! :(( stayed in vang veing longer because of this and moved on when better to our next place in Laos!
