Emma's Adventure
Hi everyone!
So, the photos are up and running...!Don't know how good the quality is, and yes, I haven't quite worked out how to rotate yet, but hopefully you'll get the gist!
So since I last wrote we've been on our little jaunt into the Thai countryside...we rode elephants, trekked to a waterfall and then to a hillside tribal village and then went bamboo rafting along the river. It was a really good day, atlhough mine and Claire's was a little marred by our elephant experience. We were the fortunate ones to be assigned to clearly the grumpy old man of the bunch who kept stopping wanting food or just veering off in the wrong direction-his mood probably wasnt lifted by our driver man who kept hitting him with a metal coil or spitting up his nose! Anyway, just at the end of the ride as we were coming through the river, he decided to rub up against this tree which was swarming with spiders which subsequently landed all over us-it was sick!we may have been laughing on the outside but inside we were crying!
Once back to Chiang Mai we were persuaded by two guys we'd met on the trek to change hostels so now we're staying in a much nicer place with real beds rather than blocks of wood being pased off as matresses! Last night we went out for dinner and then to a bar we'd been to the night before run by this Canadian guy who'd accosted us on the street, to watch the rugby-very disappointing yet again! Although after a fair bit of the Thai rum Sang Som, our concentration and feelings of concern had begun to wane anyway!
We leave Chaing Mai tomorrow-we've decided to fly back to Bangkok and then to train it down to the islands-I know it's not exactly roughing it travelling, but when the whole trip costs around 30 squid you cant really help it!
Hope everyone is well-thanks for the messages!
Much love,
Emxx
