We arrived at the hotel ten minutes before dinner, so instead of making a bit of an effort for our last night with the group I went as I was. We left Gili T on the 4pm boat to Gili Air, it took a little longer than planned after the boat got stuck and a snorkelling midget had to swim under and sort it. It was very different to arriving at Gili T, hardly any hassle...and hardly any beach. We walked what felt like the length of the island in search of a room, on the main road mainly fully booked except for spider rooms. We spoke to some nice Australian ladies who's friend ran a hotel and they found us...

We got up at 4.30am with only about 2 hours sleep plus hangover and got a taxi to the airport. Nice early start, we left for the train station at 6.30am...then we sat on the train for an hour before it actually left, god damn you Indonesian time keeping. It was so cold on the train and with 2 annoying children making silly noises in front of me I feared they might not make it. We left the homestay early, I'd slept on the living room floor so was woken up at 6am. We drove to the next city in slow traffic, we made a stop before lunch to visit a puppet maker at his house. The old man learnt from his dad and carved them all by hand, they are used in a 7hour puppet show telling ancient stories. Apparently the kids these days aren't interested in watching it and it's more for tourists, after seeing the water puppets in Vietnam I can't say ...
