We arrived in vientiane the lao capital, tired and miserable after 14 hours on a bus what an awful journey. We had got some sleeping tablets from a chemist in bangkok as Emma was unwell and we thought they would ease the journey....well they turned out to be tranquilisers so you mind raced but you could not move. The bus was freezing and the rain leaked on Emma's head but she could not move out of the wayso just had to suffer it.

We spoke to a lady who had been here before and she showed us to a guesthouse.
we went out for lunch and then slept for 15 hours till the next morning.

We went for a walk about this tiny capital. Our first impressions were where have we come to... such a strange place which is stuck in time. We found a good rooftop bar which changed our opinions and we warmed to the place, We looked at some temples and an arc de triumphe looking building from when the french ruled but thats about all to see and nothing to do apart from relax and drink in this extremley small capital city, The people are very niceThe lady at our hotel said people don't useually stay as long as we did but with Emma being unwell she couldn't face another bus trip
