we got a bus from vientiane to vang vieng which took about 4 hours going about 20 mph through mountains and booked into tavistouk bungalows on the river which a mountain range in the background.
There was a big thunder storm that afternoon which was really really loud rolling through the hills, so we stayed at the bar all day.
We looked at the menu and on the very first page was the " special menu " bearing in mind families were staying here Simon said that someone must of looked at it and unknowingly said "Ooh can i have one of your special teas." Simon had to try the special tea amongst other delights on the menu.
The next day we hired out canoes and a guide took us down the river. It was all quiet and tranquil, then we turned a corner and heard pumping music then people shouting us to join them all down thr river were loads of bars and we stopped at one which had a really high swing, simon had a go, and tried to be flash and do a turn but didn't turn quick enough and landed with a big slap on his back.
We went to the khoa san road of lao which was a tiny road and had dinner The resturants all have dvd's showing and of course the special menu
we booked up a tracking and caving trip where a guide took us on a treck through lots of rice fields and villages, we stopped for lunch and then went in to 2 caves one had a load of buddhas inside it and the other was pitch black and really big, the guide turned off his tourch and got us to tell goust stories. We then we then went to an under water cave and got in floating rings and floated though the cave which was quite difficult as our torch broke and there was very little space between the water and the top of the cave and at times we had to force our rings right down into the water to get through.
We sorted out our vietnam visa and we were to plck them up at our next destination.
