Sorry that there are no updated photo's - we are having a nightmare trying to upload them. Sure we'll fathom it out eventually!
The sun came out on our second day in Lima and we spent the morning in the old town admiring the architecture and some extremely ornate churches with floor to ceiling gold. We went on a tour round San Fransisco church, which included a tour of the cattacombs, litterally tens of thousands of people buried under the church, pretty macarbre.
Lunched in the main square and sampled our first Peruvian dishes, which were absolutely delicious. Headed back to Miraflores and went to Larco Mar - an upmarket shopping and cafe area on the seafront outside the huge Marriot hotel. As the sun was out we decided it would be rude not to have a couple of beers and ended up drinking and chatting the afternoon away with a Brit who owns a bar in Lima and an Ozzie who hasn't been home for at least 20 years.
Luke - we now know what you mean about the walk of death! We had dinner in Little Italy, and you weren't exaggerating! Come in my bar, come in my restaurant, all the way down the road!
The next day was very cultural. We visited the national museum in the morning and then some pyramids in the middle of town (Haccuna Puclana). Spent the evening getting excited about our flight to Quito and flying over the Andes the following day.
It was sad to say goodbye to Marieta and Hernan, and George the pet tortoise! They were lovely and made us feel very welcome - as did all the Limoneans.
