We decided to break up the journey from Cusco to Mancora by stopping in Trujillo to visit the nearby beach resort of Huanchaco. It wasn't quite what we expected although we did sample our first Ceviche (raw fish marinated in chilli and lemon) which was excellent. We found the only bar in town that was open, run by a Cornish girl and her Peruvian husband. We're not sure how, but Jona managed to befriend Huanchaco's richest resident (who didn't speak a word of English!) and we stayed up drinking until 6am, not having to pay for a thing.
We decided to move straight on the next day due to the useless cold weather. The wait for the bus wasn't too painful as we bumped into our new friend again, who insisted on buying us several afternoon beers.
