Totally overexcited about Sharons arrival, we were at the airport at 7.30am - 2 hours before she came through. It was fantastic to see her, complete with hole in leg from a nasty fall on the plane! Sharon, still on UK time, insisted we headed for a Quilmes at 11am where she proudly presented us with gifts from home; 2 tins of heninz baked beans, a jar of marmite, 8 bars of the best chocolate, onion bagels, perfume, the Daily Telegraph for Jona and OK magazine for Emma (Thanks guys!).
Before jet lag had a chance to set in we took Sharon on a whistle stop tour of BA, taking in Palermo, downtown, Recoleta ending up in Puerto Madryn where we all enjoyed a bottle of champagne. Onwards to San Telmo for some dinner we introduced Sharon to Argentinian steak with yet another meal at Goya. Back at the hostel, with Sharon being called a fachist by a drunken local, it was time for bed.
Bagels and marmite for breakfast set us up for a full days shopping. Starting in Palermo, Jona got a whole new outfit in the first shop we went into, the girls were less successful. We had coffee and cakes before heading to Florida Street, the main shopping drag downtown. As is a girls perogative the mind was fully on shopping and Sharons bag got rifled in a store. Thankfully she retrieved everything, the pikies nearly had it all, a bit of a close one though. We called it quits after a semi successful days shopping and headed back to Palermo Viejo for an outlandishly lavish steak dinner. Tempus Malbec is especially divine. Determined not to let a good day end we put on our dancing shoes and headed down to Pacha to shake our funky stuff. We danced till dawn in the open air with the brilliant and friendly Argentinian party people.
Two Bros. Restaurant for lunch then down to Retiro to book bus tickets for the coast. That was about all we could manage before heading out for the obligatory steak dinner.
