After a chilled out morning planning the next few days of travelling, we booked a boat trip for the afternoon with Explore NZ. The cruise was amazing! We were lucky to have beautiful weather which made the water and surrounding islands look even more spectacular. The boat sped out of the harbour for at least half an hour until slowing down to a great spot for dolphin watching. We tried to get some pictures but they're pretty fast moving and other people kept getting in the way. Still, they were really cool to see.
We then sped off for another while (whilst listening to hilarious NZ dude's commentary) towards what they call the Hole in the Rock and Cathedral Cove. The sea looked pretty rough in the hole its only a couple of metres wider than our boat but the driver sped us through it! Not gonna lie, I found this pretty terrifying but exciting at the same time! We also stopped off at Otehei Bay - a small island where we had time for a picnic and a walk to the top for panoramic views of the bay and some 140 odd other islands. The cruise cost a fair bit but lasted over 4 hours so was well worth it in the end.
We've just been to see Haruru Falls a few km down the road and did a short run along a great track which starts at the falls and undulates along the banks of the river.
