Our final full beach day. We had decided that today a pool would be perfect, as with all the seaweed washed up at shore and floating in the shallows the sea was slightly unappealing yet necessary to cool down! We
Walked along the beach and came across what looked like a beach club/hotel with a huge pool and tons of free sun loungers, so naturally we set up for the day. It didn't take us long to realise that this was actually an enormous hotel......an all inclusive one at that......of which they thought we were guests!
We had said to each other that it wasn't going to last long, and presumed that on ordering our first drink we would be asked for a room number. However I ordered a drink and no one said anything at all and suddenly we knew we had successfully snuck into an all inclusive resort; our yellow hostel wristbands matched the yellow all-inclusive guest wristbands. It was so exciting knowing that all day we could drink completely for free!!!!!! What a life of luxury, muahaha.
Again the weather was ludicrously hot and being all oiled up on a sun lounger did not help one bit - Liv and I looked as if we had been living in an igloo our whole lives and this was our first period of sun exposure - we were dripping! I had to shower every 10 minutes. This was extreme dedication to going home with a glowing tan.
After some last minute souvenir buying we caught a bus to Cancun, our final stop. We didn't end up arriving in Cancun until pretty late in the end, and after checking in at Hostel Munden Joven we went out to get some food, despite it already being gone 10 pm. Surprisingly we stumbled across a square where tons of locals were eating, drinking, dancing and socialising even at that time of night on a Sunday. We went for the most amazing meal at a Mexican restaurant called PicNic just off the square and drank refreshing piña coladas. By the time we had finished the meal the atmosphere in the park had picked up even more and there were loads of kids riding around in small cars - basically the night was in full swing. Latin America has such a community feel to it in general, I really really like it.
