After checking out Hayley and I walked up the hill inland on Gili to see the views from the peak, which were nice but disappointing considering the number of stairs we had to climb to get to the top! We then visited the Turtle Conservation which is such a great scheme and all the turtles were so so adorable! As the turtles are going extinct, and only one or two in every million baby turtle from eggs will survive as young, the conservation collects the eggs and cares for the baby turtles until they are old enough and big enough to be released back into the ocean. They were so teeny tiny and I just wanted to pick one up and hold it and take it home with me!
After a final dip in the pool we said goodbye to Gili and got our boat to Lombok - which was interesting to say the least with far too many people on it (mostly locals) and although I thought it may sink we arrived safely. The drive from the harbour to Senggigi was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen. We drove along the coast, up and down mountains with the most incredible sea view to the right of us and rolling green mountain peaks to the left, so many palm trees and the longest stretch of white sandy beach I have ever seen, all on a backdrop of mountainous jungle. I loved Lombok already; it is so beautiful in Indonesia.
We checked in at Wira Guesthouse and after some chill time went to a wonderful restaurant for dinner where I had the yummiest Nasi Goreng! So nice to not be hungover and be able to appreciate the amazing Indonesian cuisine once again.
