I left again at 7.30 for the boat - another day of diving and the final day of my advanced diving course. Although this is a very very expensive hobby it is 100% worth the money as there is nothing else like it, it's so peaceful and relaxing especially now that I'm so comfortable underwater. The time I've spent in Flores has not only been a highlight of my trip but some of the best days of my life - I've seen such incredible things and I'm only 22!
The first dive was supposed to be my drift diving skill however there was not really any current so it was kind of like any other dive. I saw a turtle even though turtles are not usually seen at that dive site, a super cool black and white sea snake slithering around the coral and as always tons of beautiful fish (including clown fish like nemo), nudibranchs and shrimp etc.
On my second and final dive I gained my Underwater Navigation Skills, which involved me using a compass and following the directions I was told. The rest of the dive was gorgeous; I saw an absolutely huge jelly fish, -'gold trumpet fish, loads of huge schools of colourful fish all swimming around together, blue dotted sting rays, a pipe fish and loads more. Having perfected my buoyancy and gained loads of confidence with diving I really really enjoyed this dive, being able to really look closely at everything and take my time completely.
Back on the boat we stopped for a while and everybody messed around jumping off into the sea and swimming and enjoying the sunshine. The people here are so lovely, especially the Indonesian guys who help keep everything running smoothly on the boat. After completely my theory I officially became an Advanced Open Water Diver thanks to Toby and everyone at Flores Diving Centre. Yay!
Back at the diving shop I had some celebratory Bintangs with everyone and then went for dinner with a really sweet girl called Liris for some street side seafood which was delicious and so cheap (£2.50 for a ah riled grouper, lots of grilled shrimp, rice and vegetables). One of the best meals I've had so far for sure! It was a chilled night visiting some bars and having a few drinks, and I decided I just couldn't leave Flores just yet - I love the diving too much!
