I was so so sad to leave Flores and woke up at 6.30 am to say goodbye to everyone before they went off for the day on the dive boat. I'd got on so well with Lyris and I'm sure we will keep in touch, plus I already have most the dive instructors on Facebook! More and more I want to spend the rest of my life with a career in diving; I just think I'd be happy every second of every day and it would definitely beat sitting in an office 9-5.
It was hilarious that as soon as I arrived at Labuan Bajo airport I bumped into Emily - the girl I had met in the same airport when I first arrived in Flores a week ago! We had a lovely catch up and spoke about what we had both been up to over the past week; it's funny how you can meet someone for 10 minutes and feel like you've known them for a lot longer. It was really nice because Martin, a dive instructor from the shop, had to do a visa run and happened to be on the same flight as me. We had some really interesting conversations (he's also a very attractive guy) and I really enjoyed his company.
The aeroplane was a teeny tiny one again and the views were just as outstanding as they had been when I flew in. The water being so clear, the hundreds of tiny islands that compose Komodo national park and Lombok in the distance - so beautiful. I was literally able to see the whole of Bali from above as I landed which was pretty cool. After saying goodbye to Martin I went to my hostel in Kuta where I was supposed to be meeting Natalie (who id travelled with in Vietnam) but unfortunately this hadn't worked out as planned and she had left before I arrived. I ended up, awkwardly, in a "two bed dorm" (so basically a twin room) with a complete stranger - this very large older lady who only decided to strike up a conversation with me when she was clambering around completely stark naked! Very very strange - I had no idea where to look or what to do with myself so I go outta there as quick as I could.
I walked to the famous Kuta sunset beach, the walk confirming that I did not really like Kuta and it is definitely my least favourite place in Asia so far. It's just too crowded (especially with young drunk Australians) which is a shame because I imagine the beach would actually be very pretty if it hadn't been so trashed. After having some food I headed back to the hostel and had a nighttime swim in the pool, already excited to get to Nusa Lembongan the following day!
