Cartagena's best beach is known as Playa Blanca, "White beach", and this is where we went for the day. I thought the beaches at Taganga were the busiest I would ever see but I was wrong! This beach was laughably crowded, not a spot of sand or sea without a Colombian in it! The photos I took just don't do it justice. We wandered down quite far an managed to find two sun beds in a pretty quiet and relaxin spot, perfect for a day of sunbathing.
Being on the Caribbean Coast the water was a crystal bluey green and the sand bright white; the beach was beautiful. It was again somewhere in the 40s in regards of temperature so definitely a great opportunity to get our tans coming along nicely. We drank lemonade out of a coconut and generally had a super relaxing and successful beach day.
On return to Cartagena we were unable to resist and ended up at the same pizza place as the day previously. The evening was relatively uneventful and mainly involved of visiting the supermarket and buying three litres of rum in cartons, and other preparations for the five day sailing trip to Panama we would be embarking on starting from tomorrow. I suspect that this boat trip should be the highlight of my travelling so far, especially in South America and I cannot wait to begin adventures in Central America in under a weeks time!
