We had planned to leave on a bus to Cartagena around 7am, however this is now what happened due to two mighty hangovers and a very appealing pool right outside our dorm doors. Woopsie! We chilled by the pool and tried to shake off our hangovers for the morning and indulged in the amazing buffet breakfast provided by the hostel.
We got a bus with a loony driver who managed to get us to Cartagena in under four hours! We checked in at Mamallena Hostel and then being starving went to find some food ASAP. We stumbled across the best Italian restaurant and had incredible pizzas. For the rest of the day we took it easy.
As a Saturday night in Cartagena the streets were filled with people drinking and the whole place had such a great atmosphere; I really liked Cartagena. We were based in the old city walls and there were tons of bars, restaurants and street vendors - even a street stall shot bar! We found a great spot at a bar, sat on the street and people watched for hours with the most delicious piña coladas I have ever tasted. The city had so much character and seemed like a really social and fun place to be. There were street performers, even a bunch of guys who started street dancing in the middle of the road with all the cars beeping as they couldn't get past. We also bumped into people from the hostel we had stayed at in Santa Marta and had partied with on the party bus; It was a really lovely evening.
