We planned a day of sight seeing today, which went to total utter s***e after the first "sight" We headed to the furtherest point south on our list, Namuang Waterfalls which is 80m high! We headed up past the terrible monkey shows, along with elephants and snakes. We started our climb and came to a road that headed to the first waterfall. We got to this point and decided to continue to the bigger one, ( a fatal mistake!) We headed up the path and followed signs for "Wateeall" Which when glanced at looks like waterfall! (also a lot of things here are spet wrong cause they cant spell in english!) Up and up we climbed on various steep terrain. We reached a point to rest that was relly nice, spectacular views and ice cool water to dip our feet in! We chilled here with our amazing satay pringles for a few mins before continuing (another mistake!)
Up and up we climbed getting hotter, sweatier and more thirsty! for what seemed like ages! We followed the path and climbed like troopers until we reached another pool (about an hour and halfs worth of climbing!) We were quite desperate at this point and in need of seeing some other people! Sean was scared we were guna be the next couple in the papers, tradgically falling to their deaths! I had already trob in s***e of an unknown animal, we were bitten and tired so the sight of a thai fisherman in a little pool was quite a sensaional sight! He smiled which we took to be postive and made our way over. He couldnt speak english. GUTTED! he just smiled and waved his rod at us! Sweet but very unhelpful at this distressing time! We then decided to just head back regardless of the fact we hadnt seen the biggest waterfall! So after dodging a HUGE spider! (sean will tell u its enourmous but it was the least of my worries!) we headed back up and onto the stupid path! Down and down we climbed avoiding injury and DEATH!!! It was much quicker to go down but stil miserable! We managed to reach the first stunning view point we had found in good time and rested again!
After we made it to base camp, we found some people and asked them where the big one was, we found out that it was 5 imins away to the right!!! not left!!! ARRGGGGG!!!!!! We were disgusted at our stupidity and also the thai inabilty to signpost things better!! we couldnt be arsed to climb the 100m so just left it at the smaller one! HA
We then had a much needed cold drink! i discovered grape fanta which is heavenly!!! we then stripped off and jumped straight into the pool by the waterfall! It was freezing but so so refreshing! We were also joined by a big ish lizard that swam across onto the rocks with quite a bit of grace! (much more than us!) The swimming was great fun and needed after a 3 hour trek in the wrong direction! It was horrendous! and vertical! We then realised the time and could not go see the mummified monk or the rock formations of a private nature. :( We walked back to the bottom and ha to walk a further kilometere to the bloody road for a taxi/ tuk tuk! Arriving at the hotel exhausted and at aboout 7 o clock was not what we planned!
Ending the day with pad thai and fireworks on the beach was a good way to call it a night!
