Hi Guys!!
Time for a break!
We left Perth on Tuesday morning and headed south to the Margaret River Region (famous for its wine making). After 3 hours or so we made a pit stop at Busselton, for a spot of lunch and paddled our feet in the crystal clear sea. We then continued our journey south, to the Margaret River Township. After checking into our luxury spa suite, we walked into the tiny town, where we spent our afternoon in the fudge factory, and wandering around the few souvenir and surf shops.
Wednesday morning we were up and out, heading further south. We drove down to Cape Leeuwin, where we saw the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse. This historic landmark is situated at the most South-Westerly point of Australia. It stands at the exact point where the Southern and Indian Oceans meet. The towering structure stands 56m above sea level, was built from local stone, and was opened in 1896.
From here we went to the remains of Old Waterwheel. This was built to pump water to the lighthouse keepers.
After a quick stop in the tiny town of Augusta, we began our journey north. We stopped at Hamelin Bay. A beautiful white sandy beach with crystal clear waters and the remains of a karri wood jetty, built in the late 1800's to trade with the rest of the world.
Next was Redgate Beach. A great surf beach, with massive waves. We stopped to take in the views and then continued on up to Prevelley Park, 10km east of the Margaret River Township. Yet another beautiful beach, where we took some more time to relax and paddle in the cool sea, and enjoy the great weather we were having. We returned to Margaret River for a late pub lunch, and a beer or two to cool ourselves down.
Late afternoon and we were feeling energetic, so we hit the tennis courts, where Emma kicked Lee's arse, just in time for dinner.
Thursday, we checked out of the hotel and began our return journey. We stopped off at the Margaret River Chocolate Company, and the headed to Supa Golf.
Supa Golf is just like golf, except for extra large balls, extra large clubs, and it's a whole lot more fun!!Yes, Lee won this game, but hey I can't win them all.
After our cool golf, we made a stop at the Churchview Estate Winery. Where we treated ourselves to a few bottles of wine, before hitting the road again. We made it back home in the early evening after completing an amazing 800km.
Speak to you all soon.
Love Emma and Lee
