Hello!

We arrived in Newcastle early on Sunday evening, after our 3 hour coach trip up from Sydney. We checked into our hostel, and thought we'd take advantage of the free meal at the local Irish Bar.

Newcastle is stated as the 5th largest city in Australia, yet after a quick look around, it seemed much smaller and quieter than we'd imagined.

Monday, we spent the day exploring the city, and due to slightly disappointing weather we couldn't resist a visit to the cinema to watch the new Rocky film, we had the whole place to ourselves - don't think Aussies like Rocky?!

Tuesday, as the weather was much better we spent the day walking along the beaches, and around the costal parks of the city.

We've enjoyed our 3 days here as Newcastle has nice beaches and a relaxed atmosphere, but as a city it doesn't have much to offer.

We leave this evening and continue our journey up the cost, to the Dolphin Lodge, in the small town of Forster.
