The first few days in Bangkok have been pretty good. After arriving at the hotel at about 3 in the morning on the 11th, we found out that we couldn't check into our pre booked room because apparently it was still the 10th, leaving us with the choice either wait 6 hours or book a room for the night! So after 10 or so minutes of broken English we had booked a room for the night which in the end turn out to be our pre booked room.
Our first day we spent walking round the road outside our hotel and down the Koh San road, both during the day have they have market stalls and at night packed bars and cheap drinks. We decided to go back to the room to use the swimming pool but ended up getting side tracked in looking up things to do and booking our next hotel, by the time we finished this the pool was shut and it was time for dinner. During our walk we had found a nice looking place for dinner so went there, I had a red curry and Emma had a green but Emma's was a bit spicy for her so we swapped half way through, admittedly hers was spicy she wasn't just being a fanny. We both had a dessert and a couple cocktails all in all it cost just under £20.
Today during breakfast it was pouring down, our plan was to go to the Grand Palace and Wat Arun. When we read the reviews online it says to have covered shoulders and long trousers, so I needed to buy some trousers. It rained for most the day and by the time I had bought my trousers we decided against going. One thing we had been suggested to do was go to a roof top bar/restaurant at sunset over looking Wat Arun (temple of dawn). It was a very good suggestion, and the restaurant was extremely tasty.
Tomorrow hopefully we'll be able to go to the Palace and Wat Arun and see one of the many Buddha statues.
