CAPE HORN Amazing experience - it wasn’t until we were there that it hit me how special it was to be going around “The Horn”. Very windy and cold but we headed onto deck for prosperity!

Between Punta Arenas and Ushuaia we cruised along Glacier Alley. Approx 5 HRs of continuous glaciers right outside our window. Amazing.

Our first port was Puerta Monte. I went on a food/cooking tour - heaps of fun and great to see all the local produce at the market. Mike ventured to a river for fly fishing. It was tough but he had a good day on the water with a local guide. He landed two brown trout, but put them back to grow bigger!

A couple of days at sea, One was particularly rough (sea sick pills required) and then we cruised into see a glacier yesterday. The ship is smaller than we are used to but makes it easier not to get lost. The food as usually is amazing and we are sampling plenty of local liquids. Today we are in Punta Arenas. Quiet little town. It’s cold but clear - 5 degree! Next report after we have been to Ushuaia (Southern most town on the planet) then the adventure aro...

Today we join the boat to start our cruise around South America. Donna kindly drove us to San Antonio approx 90 mins from Santiago. Boarding process was easy and we were in our cabin with bags in no time. Holland America Zaandam- slightly smaller than our last few cruises. Mary & Harry have been on board since San Diego - approx 16 days. We catch up with them for pre dinner drinks in their cabin and then to dinner in the main dining room.
