So yesterday we flew into Puerto Maledona and headed to the Amazon Rainforest! We bussed it to the river edge and then took an hour boat trip down to our logde! And guess what, it absolutely POURED IT DOWN and everyone at the front of the boat; that being me, dave, chris and glenn got completely soaked!! haha! ah dear, what more can you expect from the rainforest eh eh! lol! Eventually we arrived at the Eco Amazonia Lodge, we had dinner and the checked out our pretty cool log cabins!! Later on in the day, we went to monkey island and, yep you guessed it, saw monkeys!! We were all told to be quiet incase we scared them, but one still managed to jump on glenns back and laura screamed - haha!! funny stuff!
So on the 14th we went for a 7km jungle walk...why, ya know WHY!!! lol! i was sooo hot and tired and we had to wear wellies cos it was soooo muddy! The mud really wound me up by the end...not cos it was all over me, but cos i kept getting stuck and it was just soooo much effort lol! Anyways, the actual walk itself was pretty nice and we saw termites, gigantor ants (at least 2cm), parrots, a snake killing a frog, lizards ...and.. a baby tarantula and then...the mum freaking tarantuala that i swear to god was the size of my hand EURGGHHH!!!
Anyways we also went on boat and had to row for like and hour and then after a 700m plank walk, we boated it round the lost lake and saw turtles and herons and some other crazy looking big birds and vultures!
After we got back, we went to visit a local family in the jungle who live at the river edge in little raised wooden shacks surrounded by banana trees and other jungle plants! It was so so basic and a couple lived there with their 6 children and 2 dog, but they were sooo happy and it was awsome to see their lifestyle! We had a go of the bow and arrow, that they use to hunt with and i bought a necklace they'd made! :)
