We have not seen any hill tribes yet and probably wont untill the last week of Vietnam. Dalat was our next stop and after lots of steep roads up the mountains we arrived in a quaint town. The temperature was very nice and cool and even possibly too cold later at night, the cardi was required. Our bus stopped outside a hotel and we went inside to check out the rooms and we were in heaven!!! FOUR DOUBLE beds in this huge room all covered in mosquito nets so it looked like princess beds. All this for $5 a night (expensive for our standard but so worth it)! We went to a local eatery that night and the food was lovely as was the service, I have to say we have experienced some terrible service whilst in Vietnam. The next day we took a tour into the country and it reminded me of the Lake District with not a sheep in sight.here are lots of french villas here and even a mast shaped like the Eiffel tower. Our tour guide wa really funny and spoke good english and it was only us 4 in the Jeep. Dalat is an Agricultural town so we first went to visit some Greenhouses with hundreds of lovely Gerberas, roses and Lillies, they transport them all over the world. We drove through vegetable and fruit plantations untill we got to some coffee ones. Coffeestarts as a small flower that once its bloomed turns in a small berry and inside are the beans, We ate some coffee fruit/beans. We next explored a cricket farm(a local delicacy but very expensive) and got invited in to drink rice wine and eat crickets, both fried and deep fried. I have to say they werent too bad. After we got takern out back and shown where they breed them, im glad i ate before i saw. Its bizarre that we are so adamant to drink the water here and yet we will try everything else on offer...crickets..random wine..berries from a tree. Finall, he took us to something called 'the crazy house', which is a local guesthouse but looks like something out of Alice in Wonderland with different themed rooms and staircases leading to everywhere. Whilst in there the girls bumped into an english guy they met in a hostel in China...Crazy stuff! That night we met him for dinner, and it was nice to socialise a bit. The next morning we left and got the bus to Nha Trang, where we stayed 1 night, again in the most luxurious of hotels (even cheaper than the last) and it even had a lift and a bath!! Very exciting...no movie channels tho :( Whilst we were there the Typhoon past us and although its a seaside town we didnt go anywhere near the sea as an english girl had just disapppeared in it, the next morning they found her body. We had good old traditional fish and chips that night, as we did before we got the sleeper bus the next day. Our journey to Hoi An was going to take 13hrs so we took a bus with beds on...not as comfy as it sounds. Just as we were about to leave i got really badly sick and it came out my nose...this was gonna be the worstjourney ever. Luckily it past and it was only because id taken my tablets on an empty stomach! Pheww. We met 4 ossies on the bus, lights out was at 8.30pm! so we didnt have much time to be sociable. After lack of sleep and much longer than 13hours we arrivedin Hoi An.
