A bit behind on the blog and am now in Chiang Mai. Laos was very laid back but beautiful. We did tubing for a day which was really fun. I rented a big rubber ring type thing and u sit on it and travel down the river to different bars made mostly from bamboo and they pull you in. Som arrived in Laos this afternoon after a 22hr bus ride..from hell! They'd overbooked the bus so there were locals sitting/laying in the aisles on plastic stools. My seat didnt recline,my reading light didnt work, i was sick at the beginning of the trip..couldnt even do that in peace as got followed round the back of the coach by two asian guys! After a few days in Hanoi we ventured to Sapa, a very welcome break from the noise and pollution. Also i have to add, the people. We have been turned away from many food stalls and refused service in shops, even internet cafes have charged us thrice the price that was advertised. So going into the mountains was well needed. After HoiAn wemoved onto Hue for just a night,thank god because the rain was unbearable! We arranged a tour from the riverside for a boat trip because it was cheaper than booking with our hotel, i think this offended the women at the hotel due to events that followed.
