I have a job! It was my first week this week and its only 3days a week but thats all i need to cover rent and a bit more.
Here in Adelaide we have had the biggest heatwave in 70years with temperatures reaching 46.2C, which i tell you now wasnt fun and i endured a number of sleepless nights as my room has only a fan. 72people died over the course of 5days in adelaide due to heat exhaustion. Yet back home it has apparently been a Big Chill so its been a complete contrast. It was just starting to cool down and then last night was the hottest night they had had in 110years at a min of 32C. It has been a complete shock to the system but im so glad i am here in Glenelg right by the sea, you just have to spend all day in there. We went through a period of swimming at midnight to cool down and it was perfect, couldnt imaginbe doing that comfortably in England. There was one night when it was 11pm and the beach was full, you'd think it was midday.
I am staying in a hostel long term and will have been here for 10weeks in total by the time i leave. Its a lovely hostel where there are a lot of long termers here so it has a real nice community feel to it and there is a group of about 20 of us at any one time. Every week there are different activities that we do, a BBQ here on a Sunday, Steak night on a Tuesdays where we go have a quality T-bone for a fiver! Even though its a bit more expensive than renting a room in a shared house i prefer it as you never get lonely. I was here for Australia day, Ozs' biggest national holiday, that was pretty crazy and the beach was crammed but its cool i was here for that. I am enjoying having a break from travelling for a while and having a permanent base, ive even booked to go to a festival where Basement Jaxx and NERD are playing. I am counting down the weeks untill i return to Sydney to meet Dom and explore more of this wonderful country. I have got the Australia bug and may never leave!
