I had given myself one week in Fiji so instead of the usual island hopping backpackers do i decided to stick to one Island-Waya Island. One particular resort(and i think the only one) Octopus Resort, i had been recommended it by someone i met along the way. It was a 90minute boat ride over from the mainland, on beautiful blue sea with blue skies..and i still got seasick! Arriving on the Island cured me instantly, with clear turqouise sea splashing up onto the white sand and people coming to collect our bags and greet us. It was a 5star resort and i felt like i shouldnt really be there! I was in a 14bed dorm but each with a single bed, your own mossie net, lamp and fan, i felt like i was in my own little pod. One of my top 10 dorms and didnt have any noisy people in there either-result! So i spent my days basking in the hot hot sun getting my last bit of tanning in before cold cold New Zealand. When i got too hot i had the choice of the warm clear sea or a cooler pool to refresh in! It was pure luxury. My main intinery was Eat,sunbathe, swim, eat, sunbathe, swim, eat, sleep. It was an all inclusive resort and the food was superb. There was also nightly entertainment ranging from watching a movie under the stars, beside the pool to crab-racing!! We got taken to the "crab stable" to choose our crab and then had it raced, mine came into the final but alas did not win. I also took two day tours to the local village and school with some snorkelling included. Some of the snorkelling i have done, i saw Nemo! and i load of other fantastic fish and great coral. The resort was mostly older couples there but a couple i had met in Glenelg,Adelaide turned up on my last day! Small world! I made lots of friends,a couple Sheldon and Vikki from Christchurch has invited me to go and stay with them when im in New Zealand. So all in all, a great week!
