We left Sihanoukville this morning and we are now in Kampot. Our last few days in Sihanoukville were very unenjoyable as we were all very ill and we are convinced that we had our drinks spiked. Just thank god we were all together and managed to all get home before it hit fully! A couple of days before, i came out in a rash all over my feet and legs. The day before we left we had a very lazy day on the beach even though it was very cloudy, we all got burnt to pieces despite our sun protection. The malaria tablets enchance UV light so we think thats whats made it worse. Since, my rash has got worse and is all over my body, i look very contagious! So we booked a taxi to Kampot and left at 9am(mon 10th nov), 2 hr journey should be quite simple in a taxi..right...
As soon as it arrived he shoved our bags in and told all 4 of us to squah in the back seat, next thing we know 2 other people have jumped in the passenger seat, and we were like whaaaaaaat! So the hot journey began with 7 of us in the car...he then stopped and picked up one more person! so then there were 2 in passenger seat, 4 in the back and 2 in the drivers seat..how he drove i do not know. At least we have now experienced a "'sharing'" taxi, lol! Kampot is very rural and we went to some caves today in which a tiny temple is built inside. The cambodian children took us on a tour and took us right into the depths, so unsafe, and only had a firestick to light up ur footing. I was so scared of the rocks giving way. We then saw daylight that we clambered today clinging onto Vines, we then emerged in the middle of a rice field. The health and safety in England definately wouldnt allow that! We are all feeling very drained so we are going to have ANOTHER early night ready to go back to Phonm Pehn tomorrow and to stop off for the night to watch the spectacles which is the water festival, apparently like Mardi Gras. Day after we move onto Kratie to find the Irrawady dolphins.
