In Kuala Lumpur (KL as everyone calls it) we stayed in our first hostel. It had a roof garden where you could buy beer and the staff played guitars and got drunk basically. It was really full because the Grand Prix was on this weekend so they put on a little party one night, which was fun, and we made lots of fellow traveller friends, all doing different, exciting things. KL is much cleaner than Bangkok, and generally smells better, and is actually quite small. We spent a day seeing sights that you need to see, like the Petronas Towers where ‘Entrapment’ was filmed, and we walked along the bridge that joins the two towers, where Catherine Zeta Jones dangles from. The next day we went to KL’s Lake Gardens and fell asleep in the park, very peaceful. There we stumbled upon a Malaysian rock concert. We waited for 1 ½ hours for it to start, and it was interesting! Malaysia is full of shopping malls, which is really good because they’re air conditioned so whenever we’ve got too hot from walking to places we’ve popped in to the malls for 10 minutes or so to cool down!
