Land of the Rising Sun Update.
Dean took this pic early Monday morning while driving through the country side of Ibara taking mum to the airport.
Our first week in Japan has gone by in the blink of an eye. Mum was with us for most of it helping set things up. We stayed at our grandparents plc in Ibara for most of it doing a few trips to Hiroshima. It was nice seeing all the family and having a translator! Turns out that opening accounts and starting a life in Japan is not as easy as walking in and unpacking.
Japan, as technologically advanced as it is, still uses old fashioned systems for EVERYTHING! Every account needs to be opened in store, on paper. Lots of paper.
We are now in our apartment in Hiroshima. It is a snug and quirky 7th floor, 3 bedroom nook. (=1.5 rooms nz equivalent) Quite old fashioned but comes with a heat pump so I'm happy. We were lucky that it came with a double bed. So our futon are readily available for guests ;)
We've both got bikes and are ready to take on some sight seeing. Will keep you posted.
Much love,
Em

Emily Hi Colleen. I will put up a funny video Dean took of me trying to ride my bike. We are having a good time settling in, we were very lucky to have mum with us! I start officially at work on the 1st of April but have teacher only days the week before that. Hope all is well in the Bay and the kids fishing comp went well. xoxo
sarah Ah I would love to visit! Reality is, you will be back by the time we make it over (with kids in tow) :)
