This Wednesday we hiked to the top of One Tree Hill. It's exactly what is says on the tin, it's a big hill, but apparently a Mauri man chopped the tree down in a rage so there isn't one particular tree to note. There were lots of sheep, some cows, some olive trees and an obelisque built as a homage to the Mauri people. It was a sunny day, which was lucky because when I realised I'd lost my phone we did the whole walk for a second time. Classic times (we found it when Jez called it and a bus driver picked up). We then missed two buses back, so it was a pretty long day, but all part of the adventure!
On Thursday Jez had an adventure all on his own- he managed to slip into an enclosed fire escape with the greatest of ease, finding it not so easy to escape (without setting off the alarm), so after a while of pacing up and down the many flights of stairs, contemplating sleeping on the recycling boxes until they were collected, ha managed to sheepishly push open the only door that didn't claim to be alarmed- phew!
We celebrated the end of the week by eating chocolate in our room on Friday afternoon- with real chocolate kindly sent by the best Dad in the world.
